Aaron Rodgers was expected to work wonders on the New York Jets’ offense.
They have had one of the best defenses in the league for years, and many fans and analysts believed they were one quarterback away from breaking their playoff drought.
Unfortunately for fans, Rodgers was hurt for most of the 2023 season, and his on-field performance this year has left something to be desired.
Rodgers was once known as a generational quarterback and one of the best in the league, but that doesn’t seem to be the case anymore.
Jets fans seem frustrated with his output thus far, as he has not been the same dominant player he was in Green Bay.
With his recent performances in mind, in a recent episode on FOX Sports Radio, analyst Jason Smith suggested that Rodgers doesn’t have it in him anymore, and he is better off retiring in the offseason.
“I’ve seen enough of Aaron Rodgers to know that he just can’t do it. He can’t throw downfield, he is a diminished quarterback, and he is now trying to just keep it alive via magic,” Smith said.

If Rodgers truly can’t throw downfield anymore, as Smith highlighted, perhaps it is time for him to end his career after this season.
Rodgers has made a name for himself in this league by having accuracy down the field, putting up several noteworthy Hail Mary touchdowns and unlikely completions.
The Jets might not be able to rely on him much longer and could look to pivot away from him in 2025 and beyond.
