Adam Wainwright, much like the St. Louis Cardinals, has endured a rocky season.
This year is his final year in the big leagues after an illustrious career which began all the way back in 2005.
He is only two wins away from 200 for his career, but he owns a record of 3-9 with an ERA of 8.61, which is his highest mark as a starter.
However, there have been good moments this season for the 41-year-old.
On 101 ESPN, a local St. Louis sports radio station, the veteran right-hander and two-time World Series champion revealed a heartwarming story about an interaction with Houston Astros infielder Mauricio Dubon earlier this year.
Following his last start against the @astros, @UncleCharlie50 was approached to sign a jersey for Houston's @Mauriciodubon10–what happened next helped put a tough season in a new perspective…#TheOpeningDrive @BigLeagueImpact

Wainwright talked about a moment that took place after a rough start against the defending World Series champions.
He lasted just 1.2 innings and allowed six runs before exiting the game.
However after the game, he got a chance to meet Dubon after being informed that the young Astros star wanted to meet him and receive a signed jersey.
Wainwright obliged and shared a special moment with Dubon.
The veteran right-hander talked about how that moment reminded him of everything good about baseball after a bad start, saying that it put things into perspective for him and made him realize that baseball is a family.
The 41-year-old said that his mood changed entirely after the interaction, with him having gone from being down about a rough start, but ultimately realizing that he has done many great things in baseball and that the game is bigger than what takes place on the field.
