The New York Jets spent a lot of capital to acquire Aaron Rodgers ahead of the 2023 NFL Season.
Rodgers was supposed to bring them out of their playoff drought, but his early-season Achilles injury made that dream impossible for the team.
After hearing about Rodgers’ injury, Jets fans were initially worried that he wouldn’t be able to play again and that the team had made an investment with little to no return.
However, if Rodgers’ recent comments are any indication, Jets fans have nothing to worry about.
Rodgers appeared on the “Look Into It Podcast with Eddie Bravo,” where he talked about his NFL future, as a CBS article from John Breech highlights.
“I’m hopeful I can play two or three or four more years, but you need to have some good fortune in there too,” Rodgers said.
Rodgers seems to believe that he can play for several more seasons, but his response provided a sense of realism.
He will enter the 2024 season at 40, a point at which most quarterbacks struggle to make a meaningful impact on their team.
Tom Brady was able to play into his mid-forties, but he has been a statistical anomaly throughout his career.
With any luck, Rodgers can find the same fountain of youth and help the Jets overcome their years of misery and losing ways.
This team is relying on him to be the healthiest version of himself, and if he can play like he did at his peak seasons in Green Bay, they should have nothing to worry about.
