In baseball, and MLB specifically, scoring from second on a sacrifice fly is very, very difficult.
Well, at least in the regular season, when the games do count.
But it’s spring training, so anything can happen.
Hitters are still trying to find their best swings, lots of pitchers are trying something new they learned in the offseason or are not too worried about results, and fielders can get lazy.
It happens, especially in the early days of the spring.
Still, it’s an impressive play that takes guts, legs, and a distracted defense.
It happened to the Minnesota Twins against the Boston Red Sox.
A runner scored from second base on a sac fly.
No, this is not a typo.

The name of the runner making the highlight above is Caleb Hamilton.
Hamilton actually made his MLB debut with the Twins last year.
He hit .056 in 23 plate appearances.
Perhaps he was showing his old team what they are missing, or perhaps he took advantage of the time that the center fielder took to throw to the cutoff man in the infield, but Hamilton ran on the basepaths and did the unthinkable.
This is not the first time someone has scored on a sac fly all the way from second, but we are having a hard time remembering the last time we saw it.
This is actually the type of play that MLB would love to see more often: runners taking more chances on the basepaths.
It certainly makes for a nice show for the people in the park and watching from TV.
When will we see something like that again at the highest level?
