The opinions about Patrick Beverley are flying today after the news that he has been traded to the Los Angeles Lakers.
Some fans are eager to see what Beverley can do for the team, thinking he might improve the three-point percentage for the squad and also add some much-needed in-your-face defense.
Others are unhappy that the squad lost Talen Horton-Tucker and Stanley Johnson and don’t see the upside to Pat Bev.
One legitimate Lakers hero was lukewarm on the idea of Beverley of the team too.

Here is what Magic Johnson said about Beverley:
“I used to hate Patrick Beverley when he played against my Lakers LOL but now I love him because he’s on our team and he’s going to help my Lakers get to the playoffs.”
Johnson’s opinions are understandable and it’s good that he’s come around but will Beverley really get the team to the playoffs?
Playoff Pat
It is true that Beverley has seemingly had an impact on other teams, helping them reach the postseason despite many problems in the past.
But there is no guarantee that he will have the same effect on the Lakers.
It seems unlikely that Beverley will be the sole missing piece that leads the team into the postseason, especially since they already have LeBron James and Anthony Davis.
But you never know, maybe he will add that X-factor that makes the difference.
No matter what, we know Beverley is set to bring an intense desire to win and a personality that cannot be ignored.
He could be a modern-day Metta World Peace or Lance Stephenson: these guys were never the best players on the team but they did rev up the team chemistry in the right way and give them a bit more drive to succeed.
