The Cleveland Guardians may not have the largest budget, and they don’t always have the willingness to spend like a winning MLB franchise should.
However, in the first couple of weeks of the 2022 MLB season, we have seen very good developments and signs from the club.
Their social media accounts are creative and engaging, they spent big (for their budget) on an extension for their best player, they developed a strong rotation and two very good MLB pieces in Steven Kwan and Owen Miller, and while they have a 4-5 record, they have been competitive.
Regarding the first item on the list, the Guardians’ social media team released a very cool vintage video of their home opener last weekend, which happened to be on Jackie Robinson Day.
“In the year 2022, we never thought we’d be standing on the field on the day of the Home Opener with a VHS camcorder, but it happened. Felt like a dad on Christmas morning in 1998. #ForTheLand,” they tweeted.
You can see the video here:

A Nice, Creative Move By The Guardians’ Social Media Team
The 1998 dad joke was amazing, but the video actually takes us back there.
It was a really creative way of presenting video content in the year 2022, as it had a really cool retro vibe.
Of course, the images are not retro, unless you consider the weekend retro.
They show Ramirez signing his contract and greeting his teammates, the team’s new logo, the stadium, and the players lined up together wearing Robinson’s number 42.
It was another win for the Guardians’ social media department.
Again, the franchise may be frustrating sometimes with some of its baseball decisions, but fans seem engaged, and between Kwan and Miller’s breakouts and Ramirez’s performance, they are actually enjoying their time.
Way to go, Guardians.
