The San Francisco 49ers were quite close to the ultimate glory.
Kyle Shanahan’s team was so close to the Vince Lombardi trophy they could taste it.
Then, the inevitable happened, and Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs ended up on top.
It’s been months since that day, and Deebo Samuel can finally come clean about it.
In his recent appearance on Amon-Ra St. Brown’s podcast, the Niners star admitted to being depressed after the loss.
“Not gonna lie, losing the Super Bowl, it puts you in depression. You go months without talking to people, wanting to be seen,” he said.

The fans often forget that superstars and athletes are human beings, too.
They pour their hearts and souls into the game, working on their crafts, and putting their bodies on the line to win a Super Bowl one day.
Being so close to it and then watching it all slip through your fingers must be heartbreaking.
However, professionals also need to regroup, bounce back, and return to business as soon as possible.
Unfortunately, Samuel and the Niners didn’t even get a shot at revenge this season.
The team sustained many injuries, and they could never find the same form from last season.
Now, there’s plenty of uncertainty ahead for them.
They must decide whether they will pay Brock Purdy in his next contract, and that could lead to multiple players being traded, including Samuel.
Hopefully, he’ll have another chance to go after the big prize at some point in his career, even if it doesn’t happen in the Bay Area.
