At one point, the biggest concern for the San Francisco 49ers was the quarterback position and what to do with Trey Lance, Sam Darnold, and Brock Purdy.
Ultimately, the 49ers decided to go with Purdy as their starter as expected and surprisingly traded Lance to the Dallas Cowboys for a fourth-round draft pick, with Darnold set to be the backup.
Now the attention turns to reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year Nick Bosa, who is currently in contract talks with the team, and things aren’t going as well as expected, as no deal has been finalized with the start of the season right around the corner.
With Bosa and the 49ers seemingly still far apart on a deal, it has become the hot topic of discussion in San Francisco with the Week 1 matchup with the Pittsburgh Steelers looming.

With no telling when a deal will get done between Bosa and the 49ers, the team seems to be moving forward with the approach of not expecting him to be with the squad when they take on the Steelers in Week 1 on the road.
If that turns out to be the case, it won’t bode well for the 49ers’ chances of coming out on top against Pittsburgh, even though San Francisco is clearly the better team on paper right now.
