The Chicago Bears’ head coaching search has hit full swing, drawing an impressive pool of nearly 20 candidates spanning various backgrounds.
From up-and-coming coordinators to seasoned head coaches, the list includes both offensive and defensive specialists, along with a few notable names from the college ranks.
Given the Bears’ current position and potential, this opening has attracted considerable interest from qualified candidates eager to lead one of the NFL’s most historic franchises.
As the search narrows down, two frontrunners have emerged: Mike McCarthy and Ben Johnson.
NFL insider Jordan Schultz reports that while these two lead the pack, Brian Flores could still shake things up if he delivers a standout interview performance.
“It is a two-horse race between Mike McCarthy and Ben Johnson,” Schultz revealed.
He further noted, “It will be really interesting to see what Chicago, what type of direction they want to go, because in many ways, the franchise is Caleb Williams, ideally for the next decade plus.”

The Chicago Bears’ priority lies in finding an offensive-minded coach who can nurture and develop their future franchise quarterback, Caleb Williams.
While Williams represents the team’s future, the organization has decided to keep him out of the hiring process.
After experiencing challenges with previous coaches’ ability to connect with players, the Bears now seek an innovative offensive mind who can accelerate Williams’ development.
McCarthy, despite some shortcomings, brings a proven track record of quarterback development, having worked successfully with Aaron Rodgers and Dak Prescott.
However, if the Bears truly want to secure the most dynamic offensive mind for their future, Ben Johnson should top their list of candidates.
His innovative approach and fresh perspective could provide the perfect match for what the Bears are trying to build.
