Watching and studying film is a mandatory and routine part of playing sports and engaging in a growth mindset, especially in the NFL, where there is so much downtime between games.
Coaches will show their players videos of plays and sequences they didn’t execute in order to strategize how to get better, even when things may be going very well.
Lately, things have been going well for the Denver Broncos, who have won five of their past six games despite some grim prognostications when the season began, and perhaps one factor has been a unique way their head coach has had them review film.

Those plays include the Hail Mary pass the Chicago Bears gave up to the Washington Commanders in Week 8 and the fumble New York Jets rookie Malachi Corley had just before he ran into the end zone to open Week 9.
Just prior to the Hail Mary pass by Washington quarterback Jayden Daniels, Chicago defensive back Tyrique Stevenson was talking trash to fans in the stands, which prevented him from sticking to his defensive assignment during the play.
It was the type of unpardonable sin that causes coaches to pull their hair out in anger.
Broncos rookie QB Bo Nix leads a pedestrian offense, but Payton has built a stingy defense that ranks third in both points allowed and total yards allowed per game, and that will take any team pretty far.
