Trash talk is a consistent part of the NBA and even the most mild-mannered players occasionally spout off on the court.
In an interview with Overtime, Zion Williamson of the New Orleans Pelicans spoke about the craziest trash talk he has heard during his years in the NBA.
Noting that there are “different styles” of smack talk, Williamson said that Anthony Edwards of the Minnesota Timberwolves does it “kind of directly” while others like Kevin Durant are a bit more reserved and matter-of-fact with their trash talk.

Williamson also added that Kyrie Irving takes trash-talking to another level but he is never the one to initiate it.
Whether it be Edwards, Durant, or Irving, Williamson doesn’t seem bothered by on-court verbal battles.
He knows this is part of the game and isn’t something to be taken personally.
He has surely heard a lot of smack talk during his years in the league because he entered the NBA as one of the most targeted players.
After being selected as the number one overall draft pick in 2019, everyone wanted to see what he was capable of.
There is no doubt that Williamson is a bonafide talent when he can stay healthy.
He was looking good last season, right until the playoffs approached.
He was hurt during the Play-In Tournament and forced to sit during his team’s first-round showdown against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
But he has taken the summer off, gotten healthy, and is ready to start the new season.
He will hear plenty of trash talk this year but hopefully, he will see big results too.
