Zion Williamson and Ja Morant will be tangled up for the remainder of their NBA careers.
They go a long way back since their days in high school, with Zion being the most hyped prospect in the nation and Morant barely getting any sort of attention.
Morant had to spend two years in college, and Zion barely played at Duke.
Even so, they went No. 1 and No. 2 in the NBA Draft, and while Zion looked like a generational talent, Morant has had the better career thus far.
But given their history together, Zion wasn’t surprised to see Morant taking over and scoring almost at will in his first game back from a suspension (Via ClutchPoints).
“He was able to do whatever he wanted…We didn’t get stops. They scored almost every possession,” Williamson said.
Reporter: "What were your thoughts on what Ja [Morant] was able to do in the second half of that game?"

When asked about Morant’s scoring outburst, Williamson tipped his hat to Morant and admitted that his team simply had no answer for him, and they wound up allowing them to score on almost every single possession.
That’s the kind of offensive impact a player like Ja Morant can have on a game, and that’s why the Grizzlies desperately craved his return after a 6-19 start to the season.
That’s also why the Grizzlies never panicked despite the slow start to the season; they always knew help was on the way and that Morant would take the reins of the offense sooner rather than later.
Now, he’ll have an uphill road to fight and lead his team back to postseason contention.
But if someone is capable of doing that, it is definitely Ja Morant, a one-man show when he’s at his best.
