After All-Pro quarterback Aaron Rodgers tore his Achilles back in Week 1, fans of the New York Jets feared the worst for the rest of their team’s season if Zach Wilson was going to be the guy to replace Rodgers in the starting lineup.
But after seven games, it doesn’t seem that crazy to believe that some Jets fans have probably been pleasantly surprised with the performance of Wilson this year.
Oddly enough, when New York has needed him to lead the team on a game-winning drive during the last few weeks, Wilson has been able to achieve this more often than not.
In fact, Wilson currently leads all NFL quarterbacks in game-winning drives this year (via NFL on CBS on Twitter).

Through seven games, Wilson has completed 58.3 percent of his passes for 1,337 yards, five touchdowns, and five interceptions, in addition to also rushing for 123 yards.
So, obviously, his numbers don’t currently rank among the best quarterbacks in the NFL at this point in the season.
Still, Wilson has done enough out on the field this year to help lead the Jets to a 4-3 record as they head into Week 9.
Next up on the schedule for New York and their young quarterback is a matchup on Monday night inside their home stadium against Justin Herbert and the Los Angeles Chargers.
If the Jets are hoping to still make the playoffs this season, then a win over the Chargers on Monday will be huge, as they are another team that will likely be in the hunt to earn a spot in the postseason for the remainder of the 2023 campaign.
