The Chicago Bulls and Zach LaVine need to find some sort of compromise.
On the one hand, LaVine needs to showcase his skills and prove that he’s healthy to drive his trade value up.
On the other hand, the Bulls need their young players to get as many shots and touches as they possibly can.
Notably, the veteran guard/forward has reportedly taken a step in the right direction.
According to a report by Darnell Mayberry, LaVine has reached out to the Bulls’ leadership — including coach Billy Donovan, who he’s feuded with in the past — to let them know that he wouldn’t overstep or stunt the development of their younger players (via NBA Central).

While finding this balance will most definitely be tricky, the fact that LaVine has decided to meet the team in the middle is most definitely a big step in the right direction.
Josh Giddey looked much better as the sole lead guard during his days with the Oklahoma City Thunder, and he struggled to find efficiency when he had to play off the ball alongside Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.
Rookie F Matas Buzelis will also benefit from a big role on offense right from the jump.
That means we could be looking at LaVine playing off the ball early and often and becoming more of a spot-up shooter as opposed to an offensive initiator.
Whatever the case, this could be the first step in finally finding him a new team or, even better, reconciliation between LaVine and Coach Donovan.
