The New York Yankees have run into some problems in the month of August.
Ever since the Jordan Montgomery trade, they have struggled to win games.
Even after a four-game win streak, they only managed to take two out of four against the Oakland Athletics.
Much of that is thanks in part to the fact that two key players have been struggling at the plate since their return from the injured list.
DJ LeMahieu is just 8-for-38 since returning from his foot injury.
Anthony Rizzo also missed some time due to a back issue, and since returning, he’s hitting just .200 with one home run and three RBI.
In 10 games since coming back from his foot issue DJ LeMahieu is 8 for 38 (.211) with 0 XBH.
In 16 games since coming back from his back issue Anthony Rizzo is 12 for 60 (.200) with 1 HR, 3 RBI.
Healthy enough to play, but lineup can't overcome their struggles.

Two Slumping Sluggers
This is something that might just raise some eyebrows with Yankees fans.
These two sluggers have been major keys to the success of the Yankees lineup this season.
But ever since they returned from their injuries, things haven’t been the same.
The lineup hasn’t been able to overcome the struggles of these two sluggers.
The offense sputtered over the weekend in Oakland.
The Yankees have had a tough August, and in order to get back to where they were earlier this season, both Rizzo and LeMahieu are going to need to step it up.
Both of them have had mostly solid seasons to this point.
While Rizzo is hitting just .223, he has hit 28 home runs, driven in 69, and posted an .817 OPS.
LeMahieu is hitting .273 with 12 homers, 45 RBI, and a .767 OPS.
But lately, these two have been struggling at the plate and the Yankees offense has been struggling to get going around them.
We’ll see if they have a little bit left in the tank for September as the Yankees look to secure their sixth straight postseason berth.
