As the New York Yankees clinched the AL East division on Tuesday night against the Toronto Blue Jays, manager Aaron Boone will rest some of his regulars on Wednesday.
Aaron Judge will evidently play, as he is chasing history on several fronts and needs all the plate appearances he can handle.
However, players such as Gleyber Torres and Anthony Rizzo will get some much-needed rest.
It will be an eventful night for Rizzo in the series finale against Toronto.
“Anthony Rizzo will be guest managing today’s game as Aaron Boone’s understudy. Rizzo helped Boone fill out the lineup card and he’ll be consulted on strategy,” MLB.com’s Bryan Hoch, who covers the Yankees on a daily basis, tweeted.

A Cool Experience For Rizzo
It’s nice to know that an active player is so keen on managing.
When Rizzo’s successful playing career ends, why not think about a future as an MLB skipper later down the road?
Tonight’s game will likely serve as a test for him.
The Yankees are already in and have nothing to play for at this point, at least for the next couple of weeks, but the Blue Jays are still trying to seal their playoff spot and will play to win.
Rizzo will have to pay attention to every detail: the job of a manager is not as easy as it may seem.
He has to pay attention to the game, patterns, the other team’s approach, manage the bullpen adequately, communicate with his players, and much more.
Rizzo is a smart player who is beloved and respected around the dugout, so he has half of the battle won.
It will be cool to watch some of the decisions tonight.
