The New York Yankees are rocking and rolling in 2022.
We’ve now reached June 21 on the baseball calendar, which means we’re closing in on the month of July, where we reach the halfway point of the year.
As of now, the Yankees have lost just 17 of their first 67 games, which is another way of saying that they are the first team in baseball this year to reach the 50-win plateau.
With their win last night, the Yankees also became the first team since the 2001 Seattle Mariners to have won 50 of their first 67 games.
Codify tweeted a list of teams in baseball history to have accomplished that feat, showing that this year’s Yankees are now in some elite company.
Only MLB teams to win 50 of their first 67:
1902 Pirates
1907 Cubs
1912 Giants
1913 A's
1928 Yankees
1929 A's
1939 Yankees
1955 Dodgers
1998 Yankees
2001 Mariners
2022 YankeesAverage final record of the other 10 teams? 105-48

Thriving Yankees
The Yankees might just be unstoppable.
So far this season, they have been a juggernaut and are showing zero signs of slowing down anytime soon.
Interestingly enough, there are now four separate Yankees teams on that list of teams who had 50 wins through their first 67 games.
The 1928, 1939, and 1998 Yankees are the said teams on the list.
So, the Yankees have appeared the most on that list.
With their dominance, they have opened up a 12-game lead over the Toronto Blue Jays, who sit in second place in the American League East division.
This may be the best Yankees team since the 1998 squad, a team that won 114 games in the regular season and ultimately won a World Series title.
They certainly are playing well and now both of those teams, as well as the other two Yankee teams from 1928 and 1939, respectively, are on that all-exclusive list of teams with 50 wins through 67 games.
This may be the year that we see title No. 28 in the Bronx.
