Right-handed pitcher Luis Severino is one of several members of the New York Yankees currently on the injured list.
The 29-year-old right-hander has been out since late March due to a low-grade right lat strain.
Earlier this week, Yankees manager Aaron Boone said he hoped to have Severino back in the rotation in 2-3 weeks.
He is (or was) expected to start a rehab assignment later this week.
However, the Yankees aren’t sending positive signs regarding his rehab.

The Yankees said his next throwing session, a sim game, was going to be held without external individuals watching, as shared by insider Bryan Hoch.
That may not mean much, but it could be a sign that the pitcher is not progressing as hoped and they are not prepared for the press to start speculating.
We will all have to wait until there are more details from the team.
Throughout his stint with the Yankees, Severino has a long history of injuries, re-aggravations, and the like.
Between 2019 and 2021, he pitched a grand total of 18 innings while dealing with a myriad of ailments, including Tommy John surgery.
He did rebound with a solid season in 2022, in which he had a 3.18 ERA in 102 innings.
The Yankees absolutely need him to be healthy as soon as possible.
They have a 17-15 record and are a whopping nine games behind the Tampa Bay Rays for the division lead.
They have been using Domingo German, Clarke Schmidt, and Jhony Brito in the rotation because Severino, Carlos Rodon, and Frankie Montas are all injured.
Expect a more concrete update on Severino within the next couple of days.
