The New York Yankees won 99 games last season and cruised to their first American League East division title since 2019.
However, it hasn’t exactly been smooth sailing this season for the Yanks.
They are 17-15 and currently sit at the bottom of the AL East, 8.5 games back of first place.
But counting them out wouldn’t be wise.
Nobody is panicking inside the Yankees clubhouse, and neither is their general manager in Brian Cashman.
On Wednesday, Cashman expressed his optimism and said that the Yankees weren’t going to fold.
He also preached that this is a “championship-caliber” team and told fans not to give up on them just yet, according to insider Marc Carig.

The Yankees fanbase is one of the most emotionally charged fanbases in all of sports.
So naturally, this might not be exactly what they wanted to hear from Cashman, as they might have expected a little more urgency.
However, it’s not time to panic for the Yankees.
In fact, despite being at the bottom of the AL East, they are only one game back of their hated rivals, the Boston Red Sox, in the Wild Card race.
They also just pulled off an important series win against the pitching rich Cleveland Guardians.
Wednesday night’s game in particular was one that could ultimately spark some momentum as the Yankees try to gain a little ground in the AL East, a division they won last year by seven games over the Toronto Blue Jays.
Cashman certainly doesn’t seem worried about things, and appears confident that the Yanks will turn it around.
