The New York Yankees have been one of the most disappointing teams in baseball this season.
Entering the year they were thought to be a team that could win the World Series.
Now they would be lucky to even make the playoffs.
The Yankees are seven games out of the last Wild Card spot in the AL.
That seems like an insurmountable deficit with so few games left in the season.
One of the many players the Yankees were counting on this year was left-handed pitcher Carlos Rodon.
New York signed him in free agency and he was expected to be a dominant number two starter behind Gerrit Cole.
But, Rodon flopped in his first season with the Yankees.
He spent a large portion of the season injured, and when he was on the mound the results were not good.
His start on Thursday night was the straw that broke the camel’s back for many Yankees fans.
As shared by Johnny Kane on Twitter, Rodon was booed off the field as he was taken out of the game in the fourth inning.

Facing a bad Detroit Tigers team, Rodon gave up seven earned runs and eight hits in 3.2 innings.
This start raised Rodon’s season ERA to 6.60.
Everything the Yankees hoped they were getting with Rodon did not happen.
In five of his 10 starts this year he has allowed four runs or more.
While he does not deserve all of the blame for the Yankees’ struggles, he is certainly one of the reasons why they are losing.
Rodon signed a six-year deal with the Yankees in the offseason.
He will have five more years to make these struggles a distant memory.
