Trading outfielder Joey Gallo was something the New York Yankees needed to do.
In 82 games with the Bombers this year, the slugger struggled to the tune of a .159/.282/.339 line.
He was similarly bad last year, so the writing was on the wall: it just didn’t work out for him in the Bronx.
However, Gallo remains a premier power threat and a solid player overall, and the Los Angeles Dodgers certainly took advantage of that by acquiring him on the cheap before the deadline.
They gave up a solid prospect in Clayton Beeter, but for a few months of Gallo, the price is fair.
Gallo has been a beast since joining Los Angeles: in nine games, he is slashing .261/.346/.696 with three home runs.
A Hilarious Comparison Between Gallo And The Yankees
MLB analyst Danny Vietti posted a hilarious stat on Twitter that shows how bad the Yankees have been in recent weeks, and how good Gallo has been since landing in LA.
“Since trading Joey Gallo to LAD Yankees wins: 2; Joey Gallo HR: 3,” he tweeted.

Ouch.
That has to hurt: the man the Yankees were so desperate to trade has more home runs than they have wins since switching teams.
All kidding aside, it’s part of baseball.
He needed a fresh start, and he got one with the best team in baseball.
The Yankees also needed to move on from Gallo, who couldn’t even walk in New York without getting called names and harassed.
He will cool off some eventually, and the Yanks will start winning games because despite their flaws, they are a good team.
For now, fans will likely keep having fun while trolling the Yankees about Gallo turning into prime Babe Ruth with the Dodgers.
