On Monday, the New York Yankees lost a game they had in the bag for 8.1 innings.
Domingo German, their starter, pitched as much, but was pulled with 88 pitches with one out in the top of the ninth after giving up a single.
The bullpen then proceeded to surrender the lead and the Cleveland Guardians won, 3-2.
As Emmanuel Clase struck out a helpless Aaron Hicks to end the game in the bottom of the ninth, boos started to appear in Yankee Stadium.

The team is 15-15, so things could certainly be worse, but it was the fourth straight loss for the Yankees and the seventh in their last 10 games.
Injuries have exposed the team’s lack of quality depth options, both on offense and in the pitching department but particularly with the former.
At the moment, they are without their two top sluggers in Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton, not to mention Josh Donaldson and Harrison Bader.
Bader will return this week, on Tuesday, but he shouldn’t expected to be a savior.
The Yankees are out of the top 10 in the American League in runs scored, and the situation probably won’t change soon.
It’s a mistake they will have to live with, because it was their choice.
They opted to go into the season with Donaldson as the third base starter and Aaron Hicks as the left fielder.
After bringing in Franchy Cordero and Willie Calhoun as potential depth options in spring training, their choice backfired.
On the pitching side, only Gerrit Cole and Nestor Cortes have been reliable rotation members.
The bullpen has also been battered by injuries to Lou Trivino, Jonathan Loaisiga, and others.
Fans, as you can see, are not happy.
