The New York Yankees are going young.
This became evident when they chose to bring up Everson Pereira and Oswald Peraza a few days ago.
Those weren’t the only moves the Yankees made when it comes to favoring the prospects.
On Friday, they made official what has been broadly discussed in the last couple of days: the “Martian” Jasson Dominguez will be up for Friday’s game against the Houston Astros.
Catching prospect Austin Wells will also be on the active roster, as the team announced.
“Prior to tonight’s game, the Yankees made the following roster moves: • Recalled RHP Randy Vásquez (#98) from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. • Signed OF Jasson Domínguez (#89) and C Austin Wells (#88) to Major League contracts and selected them to the active roster,” the team tweeted.

Pitcher Randy Vásquez, who has a 2.42 ERA in 22.1 innings with the Yankees this season, has also been called up as rosters expand.
Wells and especially Dominguez have gotten all the headlines because they are making their MLB debuts and they weren’t expected to do so in 2023.
Wells is a bat-first catcher with 15-20-homer potential and a nice hit tool.
There are questions about his ability to remain a catcher, but he is a solid prospect.
Dominguez is a top-100 prospect in MLB, with legitimate 20-40 potential when he is fully developed, the ability to defend center field, and a keen eye at the plate.
He is expected to be a regular starter in 2024, but he could accelerate that timeline with a good performance in the month of September.
For the Yankees, the future is now.
It was time to inject some life into the roster.
