The San Diego Padres’ biggest offseason acquisition has paid off early on this season.
Back in December, the Padres signed former Boston Red Sox shortstop Xander Bogaerts to an 11-year, $280 million contract.
The signing resulted in a move to right field for Fernando Tatis Jr.
However, Bogaerts has been off to a hot start in his new uniform.
In fact, he has a slash line of .304/.392/.500.
He has homered six times, driven in 13 runs, scored 22, and has even reached base safely in all 30 games he has appeared in.
On Twitter, StatMuse posted some of Bogaerts’ early-season numbers to show just how dominant the star shortstop has been.

Bogaerts has simply been on another level this season with his hitting.
The two-time World Series champion and four-time All-Star has proven to be worth every penny the Padres gave him this past offseason.
San Diego is 16-15 on the season, as they have not quite found their groove.
But Bogaerts’ hitting has certainly been superb, and it has helped keep the Padres right in the thick of the race for the NL West crown.
Despite a loss on Tuesday night to the Cincinnati Reds, San Diego remains just two games back of first place, which is currently held by the Los Angeles Dodgers.
San Diego won 89 games last season and earned a Wild Card spot.
Bogaerts has given the offense a jolt and has proven to be a solid pickup for the Padres as they look to finally unseat the Dodgers at the top of the division.
