The Washington Wizards are rebuilding right now, partly because they have no other choice.
They recently signed a couple of proven and experienced NBA veterans, but apparently, they aren’t in consideration for their long-term plans.
According to Sam Amico, per Fullcourtpress, Khris Middleton and CJ McCollum are not expected to be part of the Wizards’ future.
But that doesn’t mean they won’t get a lot out of them.

The Wizards are a young team, and that is one of their strengths.
In fact, Middleton and McCollum are the only players in the lineup who are older than 26 years old.
While their youth can be helpful for long-term plans, it can also hurt them in the present.
They need people with expertise to help lead them, and that is where Middleton and McCollum come in.
One is an NBA champion, and the other is one of the most respected backcourt generals in the league.
Their impact can be felt, even long after they have left the lineup.
Middleton and McCollum might be able to move the Wizards forward, teach them new things, and help them reach their next level.
The Wizards definitely want both of them on the court in 2025-26, but they also want them to be positive influences that impact the culture and chemistry.
This stage of the rebuilding process is pivotal because it is laying the groundwork for many years to come.
The Wizards have to handle it correctly or else it’ll all be for nothing.
Middleton and McCollum know they probably won’t win a championship with the Wizards, but they also believe they can do something special during their time in Washington.
