Tuesday night was more of the same for the St. Louis Cardinals, who lost another tough game and fell to a season-worst 17 games below the .500 mark.
With the season already a lost cause, Cardinals players are frustrated with the team’s struggles.
In fact, three Cardinals were ejected from Tuesday’s game against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
The first casualty was Willson Contreras.
After striking out swinging, Contreras drew a line in the dirt with his bat to show home plate umpire Brennan Miller where he had missed a strike call.
Miller subsequently tossed the veteran catcher.

After Contreras was tossed, he returned to the batter’s box to draw another line in the dirt and show Miller where he had missed certain pitches.
The Cardinals catcher didn’t hold back, and finally, he slammed his bat to the ground and tossed his helmet as he was walking back to the team’s dugout.
Manager Oli Marmol attempted to diffuse the situation, but was also tossed from the game by Miller.
And the drama continued into the eighth inning, when prized rookie outfielder Jordan Walker was called out on strikes and had words with Miller, who ultimately ejected the young slugger after Contreras and Marmol were gone.
For the Cardinals and their fans, 2024 can’t come soon enough.
The 2023 season continues to get worse for the team.
Adam Wainwright had another tough start, and the bats went quiet as the team dropped their second consecutive series.
