Chicago White Sox closer Liam Hendriks, one of the best players in MLB at his position, was recently diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, a type of cancer.
The 33-year-old pitcher will have to face the biggest challenge of his life so far.
Thankfully, he has the love and sympathy of his family, friends, and loved ones.
You can add the whole baseball community to that list.
Analysts, writers, fellow players, teams, executives, fans, and personalities from all fields have expressed their support to the Hendriks family in these tough times.
In fact, the White Sox shared a wholesome picture with some of the Instagram comments and messages he has received this week.

You can see some teammates there, like Gavin Sheets; and other teams’ players like Miguel Cabrera, Tony Kemp, Adolis Garcia and Brett Phillips.
People are concerned and worried about what’s about to come for Hendriks, but they see his attitude and demeanor on the mound and are confident he will have the strength to overcome any potential obstacles the illness represents.
The White Sox are obviously giving him all the time he needs, and the universal hope is that he is back on a major league mound, healthy, doing what he loves.
This is a game he can win, a save he can achieve; one that will be celebrated like no other.
In the meantime, the whole baseball industry will be on his side, rooting for him, hoping to watch him and face him on the mound when it’s time.
