Over the last several years, Stephen Curry has not only been one of the NBA’s best players, but he has changed the game.
He has become universally regarded as the greatest perimeter shooter of all time, and he has stretched our imaginations as far as the type of range that is it possible to have.
His run started on this day in 2015 when he earned his first regular-season MVP award.

That year, he averaged 23.8 points and 7.7 assists per game while shooting 44.3 percent from 3-point range.
It was an inflection point for his Golden State Warriors, who had been a good team over the prior couple of years but had gone home early in the playoffs.
For the 2014-15 campaign, they hired Steve Kerr to be their head coach, even though he had never been a head coach before.
He turned what had been a stagnant offensive team into one that constantly moved the ball and players around while making it into a fast-breaking team as well.
Kerr unleashed Curry’s great ability to move without the ball, and the result was 67 regular-season wins and an NBA championship.
The following year, Curry put up 30.1 points a contest, which earned him not only another MVP but also his first scoring title.
Last season, he silenced the critics who doubted he could carry his team under extreme pressure by leading Golden State to their fourth championship in eight years while winning his first NBA Finals MVP award.
They currently trail the Los Angeles Lakers 1-0 in the Western Conference semifinals, but if they come back to win this series, they could very well go on to win yet another Larry O’Brien Trophy this summer.
