The Golden State Warriors needed another shooter.
With Klay Thompson gone, the front office knew they had to target someone who could fill his shoes.
There aren’t that many players in the league who can efficiently shoot the three at that kind of volume, which is why they went after Buddy Hield.
Hield wasn’t coming off his best season, so it was a bit of a gamble, but it has clearly paid off.
That’s why, following his 27-point explosion in the win over the Minnesota Timberwolves, Udonis Haslem wanted to talk to him about how different he looks from last season.
Hield admitted that he didn’t particularly love playing basketball last season (via NBA TV).
"Last year I didn't have that love [for basketball]"

Hield was traded midway through the season.
The Indiana Pacers sent him to the Philadelphia 76ers, and he didn’t have much of a role there at times.
He’s been asked to do all kinds of things for Steve Kerr’s team.
Whether starting or coming off the bench, Hield has shown up ready to play, regaining that joy and love for basketball.
Of course, he’s a shooter, so there will be some ups and downs.
Sharpshooters can go ice-cold as quickly as they get red-hot, and the fans and the team will just need to live and die by the results.
He’s one of the few people who could match Klay Thompson’s elite and efficient three-point shooting, and he’s doing his best to fill that big void.
