The Golden State Warriors are facing a pivotal offseason where the front office is tasked with milking the last bit of Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, and Klay Thompson’s prime to push for one last title run.
One of the big decisions the team has to make is regarding the future of Chris Paul, and the team is expected to make that decision that weekend in one way or another.
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that if the Warriors can’t find a trade for Chris Paul this weekend, he will likely be waived and wind up signing elsewhere for significantly less money after the team already moved CP3’s guarantee date on his $30 million expiring contract to Sunday.

We have heard this story before, and it almost always ends in a player getting waived because it’s a precarious situation to make it public that a player will be waived if they aren’t traded.
It kills all the team’s leverage as any team that wants Chris Paul now knows they can pick him up for cents on the dollar next week.
This past season, Paul spent his first season coming off the bench and averaged a career-low 9.2 points and 6.8 assists per game while being limited to 58 games due to a broken hand.
At 39 years old, CP3 doesn’t have much time left and will likely be looking to sign with a contender for one of his last shots to win a championship.
His marriage with the Warriors was supposed to end better than this, but the team is now going through a mini rebuild, and we’ll see where Paul ends up next.
