The Golden State Warriors‘ window to compete for a title could be closing, but they’re still considered around the league to be a threat heading into the 2023-24 NBA season.
The Warriors are bringing back their star core of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green who, when healthy, have the chemistry and collective basketball IQ to make a legitimate run in the playoffs.
Despite getting up there in age, Curry, Thompson, and Green have so much experience under their belts that they know how to navigate the regular season and the postseason.
However, the concern for any older roster is health as all three of them have dealt with their fair share of injuries throughout their careers.
Getting into training camp healthy is of the utmost importance as it’ll give them and the team a chance to integrate the new pieces.
Unfortunately, it looks like the injury bug is already hitting the Warriors as Green suffered a sprained ankle and will miss multiple weeks, per Jason Dumas via Legion Hoops.

This is definitely a blow for Golden State, who need Green on the floor to anchor their defense.
The former Defensive Player of the Year may not be close to an offensive threat anymore, but he’s still one of the best defenders in the league.
Without Green, the Warriors’ defense typically struggles and that could lead to a slow start to the regular season if he is unable to go by then.
Ankle injuries are easy to re-injure, so Golden State will likely give Green all the time he needs until he is 100 percent healthy.
