The NBA Finals are currently in full swing and the Golden State Warriors and Boston Celtics have already given us some serious fireworks.
The first two games have been dramatic with the Celtics claiming Game 1 and the Warriors coming back strong and conquering Game 2.
It certainly feels like we have a long series ahead of us.
One of the reasons why is because these two teams are remarkably similar in some big ways.
That includes the amount of three-pointers they attempt during each game.
The Warriors and Celtics are averaging a combined 80 three-point attempts per game, a Finals record.

Currently, the Warriors and Celtics are averaging a combined 80 three-point attempts per game.
That’s an NBA Finals record and is also 47.2% of shots attempts in the Finals.
In other words, the Warriors and Celtics are really insistent on taking shots from beyond the arc.
Will three-pointers win this series?
From Downtown
It’s not surprising to see either of these teams putting up threes again and again.
All season long, both the Warriors and Celtics have been hot from downtown.
Not to mention, the Warriors’ Steph Curry is literally the best three-point shooter in the history of the league.
But three-pointers aren’t the only key to success in this series.
So far, the team with the best defense wins.
In Game 1, the Celtics were able to shut down the Warriors, including Curry, who became nearly non-existent in the fourth quarter.
Then, in Game 2, the Warriors did the same thing to the Celtics and that led to their huge win.
Three-pointers are important, of course, and it’s a sign that this series is really all about defense.
Don’t expect to see an end to these threes when Game 3 rolls around on Wednesday night.
