After flaming out in the first round of the 2023 NBA Playoffs to the Los Angeles Lakers, the Memphis Grizzlies decided to shake up their roster in the summer.
The Grizzlies managed to acquire Marcus Smart in a three-team trade that included the Boston Celtics and Washington Wizards.
Boston ended up with Kristaps Porzingis, and Memphis got Smart who is able to walk in and immediately fill in for Ja Morant who will serve a 25-game suspension to begin the 2023-24 season.
Smart served as the heart and soul of the Celtics roster, but now finds himself with the Grizzlies who could use more leadership and maturity after unraveling against the Lakers.
The former Defensive Player of the Year fits the “Grit and Grind” culture of Memphis and he should have no problems fitting in with the team.
In fact, Smart showed off just how happy he is with his new squad at their facility via his Instagram account.

Although having to leave Boston over the summer was difficult, Smart appears to be taking things in stride as he can be seen singing lyrics, laughing, and dancing as he trains for the upcoming year.
For Grizzlies fans, it must feel good to see Smart having fun in his new city and preparing himself for what should be a competitive Western Conference.
Memphis has proven that they can compete with any team even without Morant, but with Smart now in the fold, the team should feel even more confident that they can hold down the fort until their star returns.
