After Los Angeles Chargers superstar quarterback Justin Herbert signed a contract extension making him the highest-paid player at his position, next in line was Joe Burrow of the Cincinnati Bengals, who refused to sit out of training camp while contract negotiations were underway.
That stance may have backfired on Burrow, with the Bengals’ leader under center going down with an apparent leg injury during practice on Thursday afternoon.
Earlier in the day, Miami Dolphins newcomer Jalen Ramsey went down with an injury that required he be taken off the field on a cart, and the same happened for Burrow shortly after, as the team didn’t want to take any unnecessary risks with their face of the franchise.
Burrow either not being able or choosing not to put any weight on his injured leg is not a great sign, as he can be seen here in reporter Kelsey Conway’s video hobbling to get on the cart in order to be taken back to the locker room to get evaluated.
Here is the cart coming out for Joe Burrow.

Much like any title-contending team in the NFL, the success of the season almost always depends on the health and performance of the quarterback, and if Burrow has suffered a significant injury, it could mean doom and gloom for Cincinnati.
If this is a significant injury, it is not the first time Burrow has suffered one in his short NFL career thus far, as he missed the second half of his rookie season due to going down with a torn ACL.
