The Detroit Lions’ impressive regular season came with its share of defensive challenges, particularly with injuries.
Among several key defensive setbacks, none hit harder than the loss of Aidan Hutchinson, who went down with a severe leg injury in Week 6.
As teams and players shift their focus toward goals for 2025, Hutchinson is deep into his recovery journey.
The timing of his injury, while unfortunate, has given him a complete offseason to rehabilitate, putting him well ahead of schedule for training camp.
Recent signs point to remarkable progress in his recovery.
A social media update showed him running sprints, including an impressive 40-yard dash.
“Great News: Lions star DE Aidan Hutchinson is miraculously running again after suffering a broken tibia and fibula this past season. One of Detroit’s best players is back,” Dov Kleiman wrote on X.

That kind of mobility speaks volumes about his rehabilitation.
Before his injury, Hutchinson was making a serious case for Defensive Player of the Year honors.
Through five weeks, he had 7.5 sacks and an impressive 45 pressures.
Despite missing the final 12 regular season games plus a playoff matchup, he still finished second in pressures on the Lions defense, trailing Levi Onwuzurike’s 47.
With six full months of offseason ahead, Hutchinson has plenty of time to fine-tune his return to form.
Given his track record and current progress, there’s every reason to believe he’ll pick up right where he left off when the Lions kick off their next campaign.
