The new rules that MLB is trying to implement starting this season still represent a challenge for some players.
All major leaguers are used to taking their time for everything.
Baseball never had a pitch clock for anything, and that will change in 2023.
Hurlers will only have 15 seconds between pitches with the bases empty, and 20 when there are baserunners.
Hitters will also need to act quickly at all times: they will have to be in the batter’s box and ready to take the pitch at the eight-second mark.
If they aren’t, they will see a strike added to the count.
Spring training is already underway, and we have seen all kinds of violations to the rule.
Minnesota Twins shortstop Carlos Correa didn’t quite incur in an infraction, but he was this close to forgetting about the eight-second rule:
Carlos Correa almost forgot about the new pitch clock rule 😂

After fouling a pitch off Philadelphia Phillies starter Andrew Painter, Correa stepped out of the box like he usually does between pitches.
He must have suddenly remembered about the rule, or perhaps someone in his dugout told him, but he hilariously rushed back to the batter’s box and got ready for the next pitch in a hurry.
It was a called strike, so he might as well have taken his time.
All kidding aside, we are still seeing some players adjusting to the rule.
As stated, baseball has never had a time limit for anything.
This is a significant change, but one that should prove to be successful with as time passes and the dust settles.
