The Brooklyn Nets are an intriguing team to watch for during the 2023-23 NBA season as they’ve got enough talent to compete for a playoff spot, but no clear superstar to make them a legitimate threat.
Brooklyn’s had to rebuild their roster on the fly after the Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and James Harden experiment flamed out, but they did well to get back quality players and draft assets.
Despite all the new faces on the roster, the most interesting one is Ben Simmons who has spent the past few seasons dealing with various injuries and off-court drama.
It’s been a while since fans have gotten to see a healthy Simmons on the court, though the former number-one overall pick has been determined to get back to his old self.
Simmons has been able to suit up for preseason and made an appearance in Las Vegas against the Los Angeles Lakers.
Simmons showed off that maybe he wasn’t all talk as he made an impressive move against LeBron James via the Nets’ Twitter account.

It was a vintage move from Simmons as he happily dribbled through the space that James gave him to get all the way to the cup and finish with his right hand.
The forward has never been much of a scorer, but with his size and speed, he’s able to blow by slower players and get right next to the rim.
Even without a jumper, Simmons has plenty of utility as an off-the-dribble attacker and passer so it’ll be fascinating to see if he can uplift Brooklyn this season.
