The Carolina Panthers earned their first win of the 2022 season by defeating the New Orleans Saints in Week 3.
Finally, quarterback Baker Mayfield has delivered a victory for the team that traded for him last July.
However, football experts argue that Jameis Winston‘s struggles on offense helped the Panthers take the victory.
Otherwise, it would be difficult to win in the NFL while completing only 48 percent of your passes (Mayfield’s rate against the Saints).
Pro Football Network’s Ian Wharton showed how Mayfield struggled against the Saints via a Twitter thread.

Wharton said, “Meanwhile, let’s check in on Baker in Carolina. His footwork under the slightest bit of duress looks as bad as ever.”
It included a clip wherein he missed a wide-open D.J. Moore while New Orleans’ pressure was coming at him.
Wharton posted more videos highlighting Mayfield’s inaccuracy, including what should have been a perfect throw to Moore.
He also criticized Mayfield’s double-clutching and shuffling in this video.
Mayfield also had a late read on Moore and Gio Ricci on fourth down.
Mayfield Missing The Mark
Those short clips prove Mayfield’s problems to start the season.
The former Oklahoma standout has completed only 51.9 percent of his passes and went over 50 percent in just one of their three games.
He also has 550 yards on 42 completions.
His inaccuracy is also hurting the production of Moore and Christian McCaffrey.
With these thoughts in mind, could it be that Mayfield was the problem in Cleveland?
The Browns are taking off early in the season with Jacoby Brissett behind center.
Unfortunately for the Panthers, they don’t have many options at quarterback.
They can hope for Mayfield to turn in a fantastic performance in Week 4 when the Panthers face the Arizona Cardinals.
