The 2024 NFL season is officially underway as the Kansas City Chiefs and Baltimore Ravens opened up the first week of action with a thriller.
Not to be outdone, the Philadelphia Eagles and Green Bay Packers followed that with an exciting, high-scoring affair of their own that ended with the Eagles winning.
Philadelphia and Green Bay squared off in Brazil, marking the first time an NFL game was played in South America, so it was a treat for the fans who were in attendance.
Unfortunately, the game was marred by a couple of miscues from players who struggled to get their footing on the turf in the stadium.
Afterward, a video surfaced of the field’s condition, via Daire Carragher of 247Sports.

From the short video clip, it’s easy to see how torn up the field looked, which explains why the players had a hard time keeping their footing.
Turf stadiums have been a huge topic of conversation in the NFL the past few years, as the surfaces are thought to contribute to player injuries, though there hasn’t been any sort of direction to remove them from play.
In this case, though, the NFL should be doing a better job of vetting field conditions at outside venues before allowing teams to play on them.
