Some NBA scouts have deemed Victor Wembanyama ‘the greatest prospect in NBA history,’ while Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN went as far as to call him the ‘best prospect in team sports history.’
The French big man has yet to set foot on an NBA hardwood, so it might be a long while before he gets to fulfill that prophecy — or not.
But in the meantime, it seems like he’s already got a role model, a guy he’s looking to replicate and — if possible — surpass.
And that guy is no other than the legendary Joey Chestnut.

Apparently, Wembanyama has already gotten a feel of American culture, as he shared a pic of the hot dog and bun-eating legend captioned “most dominant athlete of all time” shortly after he secured his eighth consecutive Mustard Belt.
Some might not consider binge-eating a sport, but Chestnut still leads all winners with 16 titles, five more than Bill Russell (NBA), Henri Richard (NHL), six more than Yogi Berra (MLB), and nine more than Tom Brady (NFL), so, technically, Wembanyama has a valid point.
Hopefully, though, the Spurs’ big man will be able to join that exclusive list of winners somewhere down the line as well, as he has all the physical tools to thrive and be one of the most dominant hoopers the game of basketball has ever seen.
But some people believe he needs to bulk up if he wants to find success in the league, so maybe he’ll have to eat a couple of hot dogs with Joey before the start of the season.
