The San Antonio Spurs don’t have their leader out there.
Legendary coach Gregg Popovich will be out indefinitely due to an undisclosed health scare.
Given his age, it didn’t take long before people speculated about him potentially retiring after 29 years in front of the team.
When asked about his beloved coach, Victor Wembanyama jokingly claimed that everybody knew he would try to get back before he should because that’s just how he is (via Mark Medina).

All jokes aside, he wished him well and talked about how important it was for the team to regroup and get the job done in the meantime.
The Spurs weren’t expected to be a playoff team this season, but people expected them to maybe flirt with the Play-In Tournament, as Chris Paul and Harrison Barnes gave them some much-needed veteran presence.
So far, the former No. 1 pick has had a somewhat disappointing start to the season, considering he was projected to be a MIP, MVP, and DPOY candidate.
Of course, it’s still early in the campaign, and we saw how strongly he finished his rookie season last year.
The bar is set sky-high for one of the most promising players the game has ever seen, but he proved that he could live up to the hype as the most anticipated rookie in basketball since LeBron James.
It won’t be easy to get by without Gregg Popovich, but this will also test this team’s maturity and resiliency at a crucial time.
