Most veteran NFL quarterbacks barely set foot on the gridiron during the offseason.
Of course, they do their drills, hit the gym, and make sure to stay in shape, but their teams don’t usually take too many risks with them.
That’s why former NFL star Victor Cruz believes the Cincinnati Bengals should take that same approach with him.

Burrow suffered a calf injury during Thursday’s practice.
The franchise dodged a bullet, as it originally seemed like he would be out for an extended period of time with a non-contact ailment.
With that in mind, Cruz states that they should just shut him down until Week One, stating that he doesn’t need to build rapport with his wide receivers because they have had the same core for years.
Cruz believes Burrow won’t need three or four weeks to build chemistry with his wideout corps, so there’s no need to risk the franchise’s most valuable piece at this moment.
Burrow has already suffered a major injury in his brief career, and he’s in line to sign perhaps the largest contract extension in the history of the game, so he should also advocate for sitting out and just waiting until the season.
He can still throw the football, get his cardio in, and get into game shape, even with that calf injury.
Injuries are the worst part of the game, but they can be prevented sometimes, and they just can’t take any chances with their franchise cornerstone.
