Tyronn Lue has experienced a lot during his time in the NBA but few things have been like his early days playing for the Los Angeles Lakers.
Lue sat down with SHOWTIME Basketball and “All The Smoke” and spoke about his entry into the league and the wild nightlife he enjoyed in LA.
Lue claims that he went out on the town for 27 nights in a row during his rookie year with the Lakers.
He said that experiencing Los Angeles in such a way opened his eyes and also made him realize how tempting the city can be.
27 nights in a row out in LA? 🤣

Lue claims that some of the veterans on the team, including Derek Fisher, Rick Fox, Shaquille O’Neal, and others, pulled him aside and made sure he stayed focused.
They didn’t want him to go down a path that would jeopardize his talent and his future in the league.
Many people have said that Los Angeles is a tricky city to live in and play in.
The temptations that exist there are numerous and they can all distract players from being the best they can be.
Surely, going out for nearly a month straight wasn’t good for Lue’s effort on the court or his physical state.
But he got through it and ended up focusing on the game.
He didn’t get a whole lot of time on the court during his three seasons with the Lakers, averaging just 4.1 points and 1.4 assists per game.
Lue did, however, win a championship ring with the Lakers in 2001.
He would later move on to the Washington Wizards, Orlando Magic, Houston Rockets, Atlanta Hawks, and beyond.
Of course, now he is known as the head coach of the Los Angeles Clippers.
Because of the workload he has today, there is no way he is going out for 27 nights straight anymore.
