Tyler Wade Comments On His Yankees Return

The New York Yankees made their first trade prior to the deadline: they brought Tyler Wade back from the Los Angeles Angels in exchange for cash considerations or a player to be named later.

It’s more of a depth move by the Yanks, who don’t have a lot of people capable of playing shortstop or function as utility guys in the high minors.

Well, they have top prospects Oswald Peraza and Anthony Volpe in Triple-A and Double-A, respectively, but they probably don’t want to start their clocks yet.

Wade isn’t seen as a great hitter, but he has speed, good defense, versatility, and plays with passion.

It’s not an overly exciting package, but he sure loves the Yankees, having been drafted by the organization in 2013 and playing his first five seasons in the Bronx.

After hearing about the transaction, he posted a GIF of Yankees players celebrating with the words, “Mood!!! Great to be back!,” tagging the organization on Twitter.

He Is Excited To Return To The Bronx

As you can see, he is excited to return to the only organization he knows besides the Angels.

Wade will start out his second Yankees stint in Triple-A Scranton Wilkes-Barre, playing there until there is an opportunity for him at the major league level.

He is also excited because he goes from a team that is currently out of the playoff picture to the one with the best record in baseball.

That means, if he is up, he will be part of a thrilling stretch run and postseason race.

But he will need to improve his offensive output first.

Wade is a career .214/.291/.298 hitter in 654 plate appearances, so he will need to start hitting before the Yanks consider calling him up.
