For months, countless NBA rumors, mock trades, and reports had Tyler Herro arriving in Portland to play for the Trail Blazers.
The Miami Heat were trying to acquire Damian Lillard, and there was virtually no way to get a deal done unless they included their promising shooting guard.
However, most of the time, reports also stated that the Blazers had no interest whatsoever in Herro, and they didn’t want to get his contract by any means, not even by getting a third team involved in the transaction.
That’s why when asked about the Blazers during the Heat’s media day, the Kentucky product didn’t mince his words about them, letting them know exactly how he feels about their roster, and he’s not that impressed either.
Herro claimed that he’s worried about playing against the best, so he’s not worried about the Blazers at all (via NBA Central).
“I'm ready to play the best . Portland ain’t the best so I’m not worried about Portland.”

Truth be told, the fact that the Blazers had absolutely no interest in a player like Herro could be due to a couple of reasons.
One: they have a lot of confidence in their current guards, which would make sense, granted that they have Anfernee Simons, Scoot Henderson, and Shaedon Sharpe on the roster.
Or two: they were never serious about engaging in trade talks with the Miami Heat and never actually considered sending Damian Lillard there, regardless of what they had to offer.
Judging by how things went down, it seems like the second option is more likely.
Whatever the case, you better believe Herro has those two games against the Blazers marked on his calendar already.
