The Cincinnati Bengals are going into Week 1 looking to start the season off the right way.
The Bengals made the Super Bowl and the AFC Championship game in the past two seasons.
Making a deep playoff run has become the expectation for the Bengals at this point.
Right before the season began, the Bengals gave quarterback Joe Burrow a massive contract extension.
He is now the highest-paid player in NFL history.
It was a deal the Bengals needed to get done and now they do not have to worry about it anymore.
But what they do need to worry about is the contract situation of wide receiver Tee Higgins.
Higgins will be an unrestricted free agent after this season.
Yet, it does not appear like the sides are close to coming to a deal.
Higgins’ teammate Tyler Boyd hopes the sides can figure out a deal.
According to Charlie Goldsmith, Boyd said, “He got the short end of the stick. He’s worth a lot. They have to come up with some type of agreement.”
Tyler Boyd on Tee Higgins: “He got the short end of the stick. He’s worth a lot. They have to come up with some type of agreement. I hope they get something done over the next couple weeks.”
“It relieves stress and has you more comfortable out there.”

Due to the physicality of the sport, many players do not like playing on one-year deals.
Everyone wants to have financial security and guaranteed money.
Now that Higgins does not have that it will be interesting to see if that affects him this year.
It should surprise no one if the Bengals look to trade Higgins at some point this season.
If both sides cannot agree on a long-term deal, it may be best to split up.
