Knee injuries have severely limited Minnesota Twins infielder Royce Lewis’ playing time in the last couple of years.
We often lose sight of how good and talented he is, and he still represents the best of the Twins’ future.
On Monday, he put on a show offensively as Minnesota earned an important victory against the Cleveland Guardians, 20-6.
Lewis went 3-for-4 with two runs scored, a home run, and six RBI.
His second-inning grand slam paved the way for a blowout victory.
It appears Lewis is starting to like hitting with the bases loaded.
According to OptaSTATS, the infielder did something that only the “Iron Horse” had been able to pull off in MLB history.
“Royce Lewis of the @Twins is the second player in MLB history to hit at least 5 home runs and 3 grand slams over an 8-game span. The other was Lou Gehrig in 1931,” OptaSTATS tweeted.

Hitting five homers over an eight-game span is hard enough: now imagine finding the bases loaded and knocking the ball out of the park three times.
It’s impressive, and it’s no wonder it took decades for another player to do it.
It involves luck, timely hitting, and power, and those three factors don’t often cross one’s path.
In his last eight games dating back to August 27, Lewis is slashing .314/.351/.743 with a 1.094 OPS, five homers, and a whopping 19 RBI.
The young thumper has put the Twins on his back as they look to seal their AL Central title and advance to the postseason.
He has been putting on a hitting clinic since late August, and it has been amazing to watch.
