The Miami Dolphins are in the eye of the storm right now.
Mike McDaniel is reportedly among the odds-on favorites to be the first head coach fired this season.
Reports from training camp raised concerns about their shaky offensive line and overall lack of physicality, and there are still doubts about Tyreek Hill‘s ability to return to his former level.
To add insult to injury, Tua Tagovailoa stirred the pot when he called out Hill for his comments at the end of last season.
With that in mind, the Dolphins’ quarterback made sure to clear the air on that situation, stating that people blew his comments out of proportion:
“I think people might have blown it out of proportion to where now we’ve worked on it and I think that conversation is dead now,” Tagovailoa said. “I think once people see Tyreek score on Sunday, everyone will forget about that. We’re in a good spot and we’ve been in a good spot for some time as well, so I’m really happy with that and pleased with that.”
Tagovailoa said that Hill would have to restore his relationship with his teammates after what he said and the way he acted at the end of last season.
While that’s valid and makes sense, it was also the type of dirty laundry comment that is usually better reserved for the confines of the locker room.
Hill is coming off the worst season of his career and has also dealt with some nagging injuries in the offseason.
He could still be a trade candidate at some point in the season if things don’t go well in South Beach.
For the time being, however, he’s the Dolphins’ best bet in the passing game.
This once-explosive offense will be under a lot of pressure this season, and the last thing they need right now is outside noise creating more distractions.
