The Dallas Cowboys are 5-8 on the season.
Besides their big win in the opening week, they haven’t looked like a Super Bowl contender.
That’s not much of a surprise, given the moves – or lack thereof – they made in the offseason.
Moreover, there were already some major doubts about Mike McCarthy and whether he was the guy they needed to lead the way.
There have been rumblings about McCarthy being on the hot seat for months.
Nevertheless, Troy Aikman still believes in him.
Talking on 105.3 The Fan, the Cowboys legend claimed that he fully believes McCarthy will be the team’s head coach next season (via Jon Machota).

He said the team has played much better lately, even without Dak Prescott on the field.
More than that, he believes the players trust McCarthy and are playing hard because they want him to stay.
Aikman added that Jerry Jones still thinks McCarthy is a great head coach.
Moreover, other than Bill Belichick, he doesn’t think the Cowboys can find someone with a better coaching résumé than McCarthy’s at the moment.
These comments are going to be met with mixed reviews.
Granted, McCarthy can only do so much with the hand Jones has given him, and he’s not the only one responsible for this team’s disappointing season.
Then again, keeping his job beyond this season might be an entirely different discussion, as he hasn’t done much to convince the fans that he’s who they need.
