The Atlanta Hawks may not be one of the better teams in the Eastern Conference, but they do have one of the NBA’s more entertaining players in Trae Young.
The diminutive guard has averaged 25.5 points and 9.3 assists a game in his five pro seasons, and while he’s not the most efficient player or deadliest 3-point shooter, he can get hot in a moment’s notice and do lots of damage.
Pro soccer superstar Lionel Messi is set to play against Atlanta United FC on Saturday, and on Twitter, Young implied that he may perhaps make an appearance at that game.

The sport of soccer, while still viewed as a foreign sport, is making inroads throughout the United States, and while it may never become as big here as basketball, football, or baseball, some NBA players have shown at least a passing interest in the world’s most popular sport.
There have also been a few NBA stars who had a soccer background, such as Steve Nash, Hakeem Olajuwon, and the late Kobe Bryant.
This past season, despite the arrival of fellow stud guard Dejounte Murray, Young’s Hawks were disappointing, winning just 41 regular season games, although they were able to take two games from the heavily favored Boston Celtics before falling to them in the first round of the playoffs.
They recently traded forward John Collins to the Utah Jazz for veteran forward Rudy Gay and a future second-round draft pick, and in a separate trade, they landed veteran reserve guard Patty Mills.
